How to send plain text messages

Messages that contain markup in HTML, or that have attachments are not accepted on the HTK mailing lists. Below are instructions for sending "plain text" emails from a selection of popular email providers.

If you have difficulty in configuring your email system to send plain text messages, please ask your email provider's technical support for advice.

Google Mail

Select the "Plain text" option when composing a message. The link for this is located immediately above the area in which you compose your text.

Yahoo Mail

Browse to your Yahoo email account, click on "Options" (near the top right side of the page), then on "General Preferences" (4th down under the Management column). Then under the "Composing Emails" heading, select "Compose messages as plain text". Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save".

Evolution

From the "Edit" menu, select "Preferences". Click on the "Composer Preferences" tab. Under the "General" heading, ensure that "Format messages in HTML" is unchecked.

Kmail

Messages are normally sent as plain text, unless you insert any markup (font changes or similar). To ensure that it's plain text, select the "Options" menu in the composer window and uncheck "Formatting (HTML)".
